The Netherlands is bracing for a spell of hot and sunny weather, with temperatures soaring above 30°C in many inland regions by Friday. However, this period of heat is expected to be interrupted by thunderstorms later in the day, according to weather forecasts.
On Thursday, the country will enjoy widespread sunshine, pushing temperatures up to 27°C. The warmth will intensify on Friday, when inland areas can anticipate temperatures ranging from 30°C to 33°C. Despite the heat, coastal regions will remain relatively cooler, thanks to a sea breeze originating from the west.
Forecasters have issued a yellow weather warning for the provinces of Noord-Brabant, Gelderland, and Limburg starting at 5 p.m. on Friday due to the potential for severe thunderstorms. These storms could bring heavy rain, hail, and strong wind gusts to the southern part of the country, signaling a swift change in weather conditions.
As the weekend begins, Saturday will continue to offer warm, summery weather inland, with temperatures between 25°C and 28°C. Meanwhile, beaches and coastal areas will experience cooler temperatures. On Sunday, cloud cover is expected to increase, bringing the possibility of showers as the weekend comes to a close.
Looking into the following week, the weather is projected to become more unsettled. There is an increased likelihood of rain and showers as the week progresses, with daytime temperatures predicted to drop, averaging below 20°C. This shift marks a cooler and wetter trend for the days ahead.
