Matt Cameron has left Pearl Jam after nearly 30 years of music, memories, and milestones. The longtime drummer took to social media to announce his departure, calling his time with the band an “opportunity of a lifetime.”
He thanked the other band members for their friendship and creative collaboration since 1998. Cameron’s exit marks the end of one of the band’s most stable and influential eras.
While not part of Pearl Jam’s original lineup, his arrival filled a crucial void after several drummers came and went. His studio debut came on Binaural, and he remained a core part of the band through 12 albums.
Cameron also spent over a decade with Soundgarden, cementing his place in rock history. His ability to switch between bands showcased his unmatched versatility and talent.
