‘We Don’t Give a Damn About You’: Democrats Condemn Trump Bill’s Message to Average Americans

The Democratic party has unleashed a torrent of condemnation following the passage of Donald Trump’s budget bill, accusing Republicans of sending a callous message to ordinary Americans. Ken Martin, the Democratic National Committee chair, encapsulated the outrage, stating, “Today, Donald Trump and the Republican party sent a message to America: if you are not a billionaire, we don’t give a damn about you.”
The bill, passed with only two Republican dissenting votes, is a point of deep contention for Democrats, who view it as a direct assault on the social safety net.
