Train services across Noord-Holland will face adjustments this week as nearly 600,000 travelers are expected to attend SAIL Amsterdam. From Wednesday to Sunday, the national rail operator will deploy longer and additional trains to handle an extra 120,000 passengers per day, on top of regular commuters.
To make room for these changes, fewer trains will run on certain routes. On the Den Helder–Alkmaar–Amsterdam line, for example, intercity trains will run every 30 minutes instead of the usual 15 minutes. Similar adjustments are expected on other routes, especially those connecting to Amsterdam.
Rail traffic is also expected to be heavy on the Almere–Amsterdam and Schiphol–Amsterdam routes due to ongoing rail works. Replacement buses will operate temporarily between Amsterdam and Leiden during overnight maintenance, with services set to resume in time for the event.
Travelers are advised to plan ahead, leave earlier where possible, and check updates shortly before departure. While busy conditions are expected, rail operators believe the revised timetable will help manage the crowds effectively.
