The Silence of the RFL: Lack of Answers Fuels Super League Expansion Rebellion

A wall of silence from the Rugby Football League (RFL) on critical financial questions is fuelling a rebellion against the Super League’s expansion plan. Despite multiple requests from several clubs for detailed analysis and documentation, the governing body’s failure to provide clear answers has bred suspicion and is now threatening to sink the entire proposal to create a 14-team competition.
The most deafening silence concerns the financial model. Clubs want to know how the league can sustain two extra teams when its main broadcaster, Sky Sports, will not provide additional funding.
